Printing is about tangibility. It's about hefty equipment, chemicals, odors, soiled clothing, inky hand-prints, fingernails that are never quite clean. It's about somehow magically turning all that into useful pieces of human communication that have a measure of durability, commitment and integrity built into them. Scraps of paper become transformed into expressed ideas that you can hold in your hands, study, refer to and keep or toss away. They can comfort. They can announce. They can sell. They have done all this and more for hundreds of years. Who knows, maybe they will for a few years more. (Hopefully, at least until I retire.) The internet is a great way to communicate. It's immediate. It's open. It's vast and immeasurable. But, it's also elusive and slippery and hides in its own energy field - somehow able to be important and vaporous at the same time. We all use it, not many of us understand how it works, and no one owns it. It's a vast construct without plans, without a builder. A seed-byte planted in cyberspace that has become the kudzu of an alternative reality we all share and no longer can seem to live without. It's ours for better or worse. I'll admit I use it (like now for this remarkable webpage and the websites listed to the left), but I still like my scraps of paper. After almost 30 years, maybe they are just too hard to give up. Maybe my life is just too wrapped up in them. After all, it is my livelihood. And maybe they have a place in your life or in your business, too. If so, give me a call. We can talk scraps for awhile. I may even have some good ideas that can help you with yours. Or you can just email me (that'll work, too!) Barry Haskell Owner | Our
